A small batch nouveau wine with a unique story from Kleine Zalze wines. Syrah du Plateau unwooded Shiraz is produced from vineyards growing at 960m above sea level in the Ceres mountains (W.O. Ceres Plateau). The fruit endured balmy summers and icy winters, producing a wine with the character of a Continental climate rather than the typical Western Cape Mediterranean climate.
A distinctively different wine required out of the ordinary packaging. Syrah du Plateau is bottled in flint bottles drawing attention to its bright berry colour and finished with an elegant glass vinlock. Gentry Creative designed a strong, yet classic typographic logo mimicking the mountainous contours. A thick un-coated paper creates a raw appearance and supports the embossed logo. Each bottle is individually numbered – only 687 bottles were produced. The elegance of the vinlock closure is highlighted with the application of a fresh green tag detailing the story of Syrah du Plateau. The smooth tag with silver highlights contrasts the rugged texture of the label.
Syrah du Plateau is made using the carbonic maceration process, a wine-making technique that results in a fruitier red wine with lower tannins and a lighter colour. Perfect for summer days, Syrah du Plateau is a light-bodied, fruit-driven nouveau-styled red wine that is meant to be enjoyed while young and served slightly chilled.
There is nothing bland or ordinary about this Kleine Zalze small batch.
