Gentry was approached to extend the Nativechild African haircare brand to accommodate a new range of products specifically geared for kids. The established adult range is distinctive with its earthy monochromatic packaging colours and a splash of fresh green. Our brief was that the kids packaging should be colourful and engaging and should appeal to both girls and boys. We chose a clean white background and made use of the existing fresh green as the primary brand colour, followed by a selection of bright pastel colours, differentiating the various products in the kid’s range. We brought a whimsical and playful aspect to the brand through the little girl and boy mascots we created and illustrated in-house. The result is a delightful new take on a much loved proudly South African brand.
